Hearing Screenings – yeah, we got that covered!

Over the past couple of weeks we have provided hearing screenings for our local and not-so-local communities.  On Friday April 28 we saw about 25 students, faculty and staff when we parked behind Gorgas Library and today, Friday May 12 we saw about 30 people at the Demopolis Health Fair.  Student volunteers, Allison Tejada, Chandler Seal, and Maggie Spiegel helped out with the screenings on campus and JoAnne Payne and Christy Albea (her first venture out on the truck – […]

Home Town Girl Makes Good!

We always love going to Camden, AL and our trip on Friday did not disappoint.  In addition to providing lots of people with hearing evaluations, Beth Sims, one of our research assistants, was interviewed by the Camden Progressive Era.  Beth grew up in Camden and loves her town.  Everyone who came to see us on Friday knew her when she was a little girl…ah… Oh, and btw, Mark Zuckerberg was in Camden this past week too…one of his stops on […]

A Second Trip To Marion, AL…not as busy as the first!

Had an enjoyable day today in Marion, AL – didn’t see 47 people this time as we did on our first visit!  Our project would be nothing without our wonderful student volunteers!  On our trip today, a rather chilly day in Marion, were Rachel Lee (left), Beth Sims (center) and Maggie Spiegel (right).

Our First Trip to Livingston

On Friday January 20th we tested participants in the cute town of Livingston, AL.  Beth Sims (left) and Anna Claire Bailey (right) were a big help with the testing.  Our undergraduate students have been instrumental with the project and we couldn’t do what we do without them.  Oh, and on the way out of Livingston we stopped at the Taste of Home Bakery and got ourselves some very tasty treats!
