At the end of each year we always have to bid farewell to some of our wonderful students. It is through the dedication of these students that our project is successful. This year we are saying goodbye to Reagan Sandoz, Jenna Dworak, Kristyn Conrad, Asia Crenshaw, Marissa Williamson, and Leah LeCroy. Dusty McDanal, the Mayor of Pine Hill, came by for a hearing assessment today. Always great to see him in the lovely town of Pine Hill. He very generously lets us park in the Pine Hill Town Hall parking lot while we are there. He’s shown here with one of our fabulous students, Reagan Sandoz. Always a treat to have her on the bus.
Every time we land in Camden, AL we have a great day. Today was no exception. The people of that small but vibrant little town always come out to get their hearing tested or screened. And, today we also met Chad Kent, one of the Public Health Area Administrators for Wilcox County. Thanks, Chad, for supporting our cause!
Our second trip to Demopolis was just as busy as the first. We saw a ton of people today and saw lots of interesting “ear” conditions. A reporter from the Demopolis Times also came and interviewed us for their newspaper. An all around wonderful day!

Our first trip down to the Bibb Medical Center in Centreville, AL was a huge success – even for Friday the 13th! Over 55 people showed up to get their hearing screened and learn a little more about our program. It was great to have them walk through our doors. We had a very exciting and busy day at the Focus on Seniors Health Fair today. We saw lots of people and lots of people learned that they aren’t hearing as they should be hearing. We hope to see them for further evaluations at the Speech and Hearing Center. In the next few weeks we will be doing a number of health fairs. We were at Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB) today and at the end of the month we will be doing the City of Tuscaloosa Health Fair. We’ve also got plans to do the UA Work-Life and Wellness Expo in October. And even more events are in the works! Stay tuned!
