We’re still here and doing fine – pretty well, actually…

It’s been almost a year since our last post. As you are all aware, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on all of our lives, affecting our in-person interactions. Dottie hasn’t been on the road seeing people but she has been taking spins each week just to keep her engine running smoothly. We typically take a run down to Fosters to keep her purring – maybe you’ve even seen her travelling down McFarland and out to I-65, heading west?

At the beginning of 2020 we were able to submit a National Institutes of Health grant through the National Institute of Deafness and other Communication Disorders and found out in October that it would be funded! Yeah!

So, for the next 5 years we’ll be starting a clinical trial looking at how to effectively provide over-the-counter hearing aids for adults with hearing loss living in rural communities. We’re extremely excited about it.

You can read more about it here:

Improving Access and Affordability of Hearing Healthcare

You can also read about the details of the clinical trial here:

We’re looking forward to enrolling study participants in the project and learning how to improve access to hearing healthcare within Alabama!

Stay tuned!
